Events Honoring Veterans

The World of Coca-Cola grants complimentary admission to all active duty, reserve and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces each and every day, but the attraction is pleased to add something special in honor of Veterans Day. November 3 through 13, active duty, reserve and retired members of the Armed Forces may purchase up to four World of Coca-Cola general admission tickets at 50% off for their friends and family. Tickets may be purchased at the attraction’s ticketing windows when members present their valid Armed Forces ID.

A free concert honoring veterans for their service will be held on Sunday, November 6th at 3:00 p.m. at the Lassiter Concert Hall, 2601 Shallowford Road, Marietta, GA. The Cobb Wind Symphony, considered one of the finest all-adult community bands in the country, is comprised of adult musicians from all over the region.

The Rotary Club of Marietta Metro is honoring veterans with the screening of the Emmy award winning documentary, “Jeremiah,” and special guest speaker Alvin Townley, author of the book, “Defiant.” Location and time: Monday, November 7th, 6:30 p.m. at Earl Smith Strand Theater, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta, GA.

Buzz Cut Challenge: The American Legion and Great Clips will offer buzz cuts on Monday, November 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to anyone who wants to participate as a way to honor the troops. Suggested donation is $10; donated money will support Post 29 of the American Legion. Location: 921 Gresham Ave. NE, Marietta, GA.

Emory’s annual flag-raising ceremony, on Friday, November 11th at 10:55 a.m., located at 201 Dowman Drive, Atlanta. Free event.

Atlanta History Center’s Veterans Day events:  Friday, November 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The free event will feature a speech from Command Sgt. Major Benny Adkins, who received a medal of honor for his service in the Vietnam War. Location: 130 W. Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta, GA.

The City of Kennesaw will honor the service of military members with a complimentary lunch on Veterans Day. All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend – no identification needed. Location and time: Friday, November 11th, noon to 2:00 p.m., Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive, Kennesaw, GA.

Spend Veterans Day at the Zoo! On Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2016, veteran, active-duty, retired and reserve members of the U.S. Armed Forces enjoy FREE admission and $4 off general admission for up to six accompanying guests. Present a valid military I.D. at Zoo Atlanta to redeem the discount. Offer valid only on Friday, November 11, 2016; valid only in-person at Zoo Atlanta Admissions. The discount is not valid with any other offer or promotion.

In honor of Veterans Day, the Civil War Museum located at 800 Cherokee Ave., Atlanta, GA 30315, will offer free admission for all veterans, active-duty military service members and retirees on November 11, 2016.
