Recently I learned of a new, innovative IPhone app that can help dementia or TBI sufferers confirm if they’ve remembered to complete certain tasks during the day such as locking the door, taking their medications or turning off the stove. The app assists users in remembering and confirming completion of everyday tasks. In addition, it’s even able to notify a loved one that a task has been completed. It has been endorsed by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practioners and has received many positive reviews so far. A user with a TBI wrote: “I am on the board for the Brain Injury Association and I presented the It’s Done! APP at our monthly meeting tonight. Nothing but great responses. I have been using the APP myself for the last few weeks, and have found it extremely helpful. It is more than just a helpful tool, it helps strengthen your memory while making sure everything gets done when they’re supposed to.”
The app is designed to have users check off tasks as they complete them. In addition, you can set it up to have the app remind you of time sensitive tasks such as taking your medications. Later in the day, if a worry arises (or a person forgets) if they have completed a certain task, they can consult the app and if the task was done there will be a check mark with a timestamp. Using the app, you can also notify a loved one or caregiver that the task has been completed.
The app is available at the iTunes App Store for $2.99. For more information – please visit www.itsdoneapp.com.
