Flu Vaccines Available

The Public Health Centers of Acworth, Marietta, Douglasville and East Cobb are offering annual flu vaccines to everyone six months and older. In additional to the flu vaccine, the Cobb and Douglas Public Health’s Immunization Clinic is recommending pneumonia shots for persons over 65 years old, or anyone with a chronic illness or weakened immune system. The shingles vaccine is also recommended by anyone over 60 years of age. The CDPH is committed to ensuring that everyone is properly protected so walk-ins are welcome. You can reduce the risk of getting the flu by following these simple steps: (1) Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand cleanser. (2) Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. (3) Stay home when you are sick and keep sick children home. (4) Do not share eating utensils, drinking glasses, a towel or other personal items. (5) Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then put the used tissue in the trash and wash your hands. Onsite vaccinations can be provided to any group in Cobb or Douglas counties having 20 or more people who would like to get immunized, according to Priti Kolhe, District Immunization Director for CDPH.
