Take control

We have all gotten through the holidays and rung in another new year. We are starting 2022 with a lot of uncertainty in our lives. The Covid Omicron variant is raging, supply chains are still severely impacted, and grocery prices are surging. However, there are many things we can do to take control in our lives to help make 2022 as smooth as possible.

Create a plan

One of these tasks should be creating your estate plan. Have you put this off in the past? If so, you are not alone.

Most adults put off estate planning for several reasons:

1) It seems overwhelming and confusing.

2) It seems terribly complicated and expensive.

3) They don’t think they need it (because, obviously, illness and death only happen to OTHER people).

4) There are a thousand less stressful things to do.

Be Prepared!

We understand this topic is hard and acting is even harder. We all want to avoid illness, incapacity, and death. We all would rather do almost anything else besides writing our will or deciding who can make decisions for us. Americans are very optimistic people.  We like to believe that we will live with full capacity and independence until we die. We all hope to be like Betty White and live happily and in good health until we are 99. Unfortunately, this is a rare occurrence, and the stark reality is that most of us will experience some level of incapacity and decline in our life. Death happens to 100% of us so the best decision we can make is to prepare.

Over the next few weeks, we will help demystify the estate planning process for you. We will simply explain wills, power of attorney, advance directives, and trusts. We are hoping you will see the importance of having a plan in place and the return on investment you will have both in dollars and peace of mind.

The expert team at Hurley Elder Care Law can walk you through every step of your estate plan so you will be ready to take on 2022. We are happy to discuss your situation with you. Just give us a call at 404-843-0121.
