Dawn Houston joined Hurley Elder Care Law in 2007 as the Geriatric Care Coordinator, and has more than 20 years of nursing experience.

As Geriatric Care Coordinator, Ms. Houston is responsible for a variety of duties, including life care-planning assessments, emotional support for seniors and their family members and on-going monitoring of the seniors’ conditions and needs. She makes referrals to appropriate local providers that serve the medical, housing, cognitive, social and emotional concerns of clients. Distant family liaison management, crisis intervention and coordination of the elder healthcare team are additional responsibilities.

At Hurley Elder Care Law, Ms. Houston will assist in the creation of a geriatric care plan that best maximizes the elder’s existing resources and discovers additional resources in order to allow them to retain dignity, independence and remain functioning at the highest level for as long as possible.

Ms. Houston graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kennesaw State University. She received her Certificate in Alzheimer’s Care in 2007 from the Alzheimer’s Association and a certificate in Gerontology from KSU continuing education in 2009. Ms. Houston has extensive experience working with families in all phases of life.

She and her husband Bill, an engineer, have three grown children and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include swimming, scrapbooking, reading, gardening, and giving parties.

She considers serving our elderly population a privilege and seeks to promote the respect and dignity that our elders deserve in her work with Hurley Elder Care Law.
