Honoring Veterans

The 2016 Veterans Day poster theme this year is “Courage – Honoring All Who Served.” To commemorate the day, the 35^th Annual Atlanta Veterans Day Parade will begin at 1111 hrs on Saturday, November 12^th, beginning in Downtown Atlanta on Peachtree Street south of Ralph McGill/Ivan Allen Blvd. The Parade will proceed south on Peachtree Street, turn right on Baker Street towards Centennial Olympic Park, continue on Baker Street and turn left onto Marietta Street, ending at the intersection of Centennial Olympic Park Drive and Marietta Street. The 11^th annual Marietta Veterans Day parade will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11^th, on Roswell Street in downtown Marietta. The parade will include drill teams, floats, military vehicles, high school bands and ROTC groups representing schools in Cobb County and Marietta. The City of Powder Springs will have a parade on Saturday, November 12^th at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Powder Springs. Free food, meals, or % off for veterans are offered on Friday, November 11^th at the following restaurants – call them for details as they may have particular times or specifications. They include: IHOP, Red Robin, Smokey Bones, TGI Fridays, LongHorn, Starbucks, Denny’s, Red Lobster, O’Charley’s, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Applebee’s, Chili’s, Olive Garden, Outback, Golden Corral, Red Lobster, BJ’s, Texas Roadhouse, Krystal, Willy’s, McCormick & Schmick’s. Additional participating restaurants are: Der Biergarten, Hobnob, Johnny’s Hideaway, Ray’s, Revival, Saltwood Carcuterie, Smokebelly BBQ, The Big Ketch, Tin Lizzy’s Cantina, and White Oak Pastures. If a veteran has a favorite place to eat, call the restaurant as well since it may not have been included in the list.
