Our intake team

At Hurley Elder Care Law, we understand that when someone reaches out to our office, it is often during one of the most stressful and emotional periods of their life. Families are trying to navigate difficult conversations about aging, long-term care, finances, Medicaid, estate planning, or a loved one’s health and safety. Many callers feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and in need of guidance long before they ever meet with one of our attorneys.

That is why our intake team plays such an important role in shaping who we are as a law firm.

For many families, our intake specialists are the first point of contact with our team. We believe the first conversation should be more than simply answering a phone call or scheduling an appointment. It should be informative, compassionate, and reassuring. Our intake team understands elder law issues and the challenges families face, drawing on decades of combined experience in the senior industry.

They know how to listen carefully. They know the right questions to ask. Most importantly, they understand that families often need kindness, direction, resources, and a game plan.

Our intake specialists regularly help connect families with valuable community resources and referrals while also determining which of our five attorneys may best fit a family’s needs. They help callers feel heard and supported during moments that can feel frightening and uncertain.

The heart of our intake department is built on experience, compassion, and dedication.

Louise Morris has been with Hurley Elder Care Law since the beginning, 20 years ago, and also serves as our Practice Manager. Her deep knowledge of elder law and commitment to client service have helped shape our firm’s culture from day one.

Joanna Hurley has also been with the firm for 20 years and is responsible for creating much of our professional and community education programming. Her passion for educating and guiding families is evident in every interaction.

Kaila Crowder, an invaluable Hurley team member since 2018, has gained knowledge while in several roles within our firm. She has experience in legal drafting and document proofreading, has worked on our public benefits team, and is currently our associate practice manager.

Dawn Houston, RN, BSN, joined the firm 19 years ago as our first care coordinator. As a nurse, she brings valuable healthcare insight and compassion to families as they navigate difficult care decisions.

Mary Remmes brings experience as both a nursing home administrator and Certified Life Coach, offering understanding and practical guidance to families facing aging and long-term care challenges.

Making a difference

Recently, one of our callers, Sherie, shared a Google review that beautifully captures what we hope every family experiences when they contact our office:

“It’s rare when I visit or contact a business and feel compelled to immediately rave about the experience. My phone conversation with Joanna, intake coordinator, this morning was informative, helped me determine next steps for the care and financial considerations for my age 94 mom, and maybe most of all made me feel like I had a knowledgeable, caring soul on the other end of the line. I, and/or my Georgia friends and family who I refer to you, will definitely engage with your practice again.”

For 20 years, Hurley Elder Care Law has been committed to serving Georgia families by providing experienced legal guidance and compassionate support. This often begins with a single caring conversation. Call our intake team today at 404-843-0121 for your complimentary phone consultation.
